Right before the rain and balmy sixty plus degree springtime weather, a thin veneer of ice crust smoothed over last week's snowfall. Trudging and trekking on the crust as afternoon sunlight cast tree and branch shadows, I loved the crackling sounds of the softened ice giving way. Not too deep the snow pile, but deep enough to be cautious stepping warily over branches and broken logs. An adventuress in the white frozen wilderness!
