New York City did not bear the brunt of snowstorm Nemo's wrath. It "dodged the bullet, " according to Mayor Bloomberg. New England States as far north as eastern Maine as well as Long Island faced two and three feet snow pileups. Central Park, according to published reports, received only eleven inches of the white layering, enough for a pretty display without making passage impossible. The morning after, skies were the bluest blue and branches had frosting-layer coatings attracting robins to warble spring's coming. The happiest beneficiaries, of course, were the children, who grabbed saucer sleds and found hills of all sizes to climb and whiz. Those who lost power will not look fondly on Nemo in spite of its sparkling wintry glistening snow crystal display.
