Blue sky and mild temperature, great for getting out and visiting two museum jewels in NYC, the Frick and the Morgan Library & Museum to check out the recent offerings. Splendid is The Dead Thrush by Houdon in the newly opened Portico Gallery of the Frick Museum. This marble relief sculpture is life size with a wing extending over the gold gilt frame. The courtyard of the Frick invites sitting and quiet contemplation surrounding the fountain. On to the Morgan, also recently enlarged, and now with a photography department and current exhibit, A Collective Invention: Photographs at Play. The play involves a sequence of ninety photographs linked by free association, mind play at its best, a most diverse array. And on Sundays, musicians perform in the open light-fare dining space. This day, classical guitarists enhanced the scene and the mood. Aah, all so civilized.
