It takes more than a village it seems to film a TV episode on the streets of Manhattan. Gigantic silver trucks and trailers dotted Riverside Drive and West End Avenue in the eighties for shooting a police action sequence a car drive away for NBC's "The Mysteries of Laura." Crews, directors, actors and their doubles, plus film extras turned my usually sedate neighborhood on the Upper West Side into a lively and frenetic opportunity for photography. The weather was sunny and seasonally perfect for the long waiting times of direction, set ups and TV shooting. A tented food court fed the hungry, so good humor pervaded. I suppose I will have to look for this episode on TV to see the polished edits and cut. In the meantime, here are some stills from the day.
