On sequential days, February 29 and March 1, posted images made Flickr Explore, the coveted invitation-only gallery of the 500 most interesting photos of the day. The two  photos could not have been more different. A landscape seen of Lake Skinnatati in Harriman State Park sparkled diamonds on the crisp cold Saturday when the sun was sky high. Framed by tree trunks, rocks, and a stanchion of far distant trees, the blue of the lake is deep. In contrast the other Explore selection is a still life, It pays to have a camera with you at all times. A solitary room in a warren of rooms that I saw on a visit to a doctor's appointment offered a view of a vase, a scalloped dish, and a curving shell on a stand. The room was dim, but the chrysanthemum green-yellow of the vase shone. Unhesitant, I entered the vacant room and snapped a series of images before meeting with my doctor, whose regular offices had been flooded in the cold snap the previous week.
