The royal purples are out in the Riverside Park Community Garden. A host of blooming beauties - iris, clematis, columbine, camomile, allium, lupine and spotted purple foxglove, among others. If the color of the majestic elites in the days of Queen Elizabeth I is to your liking, then head over to the park. As an aside, Queen Elizabeth I restricted the wearing of royal purple to her family members. It was a dye costly to produce, derived from the secretions of sea snails. Happily, it never faded.
